WELCOME TO ISLA NEGRA From Santiago it takes less than 2 hours. From Isla Negra to Cantalao - the cliffs When we arrived (Georgia and I) only know about the coastline and Pablo Neruda´s house, a Chilean author who lived there, not permanently, from 1939 to 1973. He also renamed the village because of the landscape. The town is touristy in Summer but now in Autumn it is quiet. We had the chance to talk to a local who is philosophy and literature teacher, organizes mosaic workshop and works in a store. He gave the previous information about Cantalao. It detailed his description of the way with a such precision that I was lost in translation. He added stories of people, authors! It was great. We followed his instructions and we spent the day on the beach and in Cantalao. From Isla Negra, it is maybe 1,5 km. We passed, a mosaic, a petrol station, and then some horses Chilean stalls. We asked our way again to make sure that we were on the right track. Isla Negra is famous for its mosaics and Pablo Neruda Feeling the energy! While standing on the rocks, you can feel the power of the waves! Living there... good luck! Georgia from Texas We picnicked on the cliffs and it was amazing. Then we walked to the beach and enjoy the birds, the landscape. What the camera did not take... On the way in, what I call a November weather... At Isla Negra, as black as it is named... On the way back, a autumn sunset on vineyards...Magic Treats... I fell in love with the ring...The lady in the shop could not make me a discount but told me to choose two souvenirs instead. I´ve got a magnet and a key ring!
The cake is delicious, home made and cost nothing (€1.60), it is named: El rey ... The king!
